Scary Stuff in the Healthcare Bill

I'm sure only a handful of Congressmen actually read the healthcare bill. Same is to be said about the about 40% of the Americans who support the bill. They all took the blue pill that Obama gave them, and don't really care about what's inside. But if you peek inside the bill, you have all the reasons to be scared, because it means the end of freedom as you know it.

Obama Chose the Blue Pill

So Obama said we should choose the blue pill instead of the red pill. For people who haven't seen The Matrix, the red pill makes you see the reality, while the blue pill keeps you living in a world of illusions. Neo picked the red pill. Cypher chose the blue pill, like Obama, stating that "ignorance is bliss"

Here's a video that explains the symbolism:

Healthcare Information - Your Future Health Depends on This

I received this message from Dorothy Albala, VP of the Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce:

Code Blue: Get your Clients Involved in the Health Care Debate

For this week's Operation Shout, we are asking you to get your clients involved! As you know, comprehensive health care reform reaches far beyond insurance agents, brokers and consultants, and it is important for members of Congress to hear from everyone.

We have created three different client Operation Shouts that you can forward to your clients to get them involved. The first letter is to voice their concerns about a government-run public plan option. The second letter is to tell Congress that they think employers should be able to continue to decide what health benefits they can afford to provide to their employees. And the final letter is for them to urge their members of Congress to allow Americans to truly keep their current health insurance coverage.

Along with this week's Operation Shout letters, we will also be providing a client version of the Washington Update. Tomorrow when you receive the Washington Update, look for the client version attached as a Word document so that you can edit it yourself and send it out to your clients.

Thank you for all of your support during these Operation Shouts!

Stimulus at Work: Best of Pork

I'm not even sure if unbelievable is an appropriate word. Just look at this list, from Obama's website, of stimulus contracts recently awarded:

$2,531,600 FOR 'HAM, WATER ADDED, COOKED, FROZEN, SLICED, 2-LB'
$1,191,200 FOR '2 POUND FROZEN HAM SLICED'
$351,807 FOR 'REPLACE AND UPGRADE THE DUMBWAITER'
$1,562,568 FOR 'MOZZARELLA CHEESE'
$5,708,260 FOR 'PROCESS CHEESE'
$16,784,272 FOR 'CANNED PORK'
$1,444,100 FOR 'REPAIR DOOR BLDG 5112'

The Obama/Corzine Protest

Hah, this is my first protest since the early 90's in Romania. It was a fun day at the park, and probably the first political event I went to this year where I actually felt old. 90% of the protesters were college kids, so it was a cool atmosphere. We met at the Holmdel Park, and right when we were ready to start marching, someone brought us some passes and we drove to the official parking lot. There we "commandeered" about 3 shuttle buses, so we got bused in on Corzine's expense. It was funny how on our bus also go 3 Obamaniacs, and otherwise it was all College Republicans, so they might've felt quite awkward.

We regrouped on the big lawn in fron of the entrance, and the Dems were very polite, they didn't shoul at us, actually they all seemed mostly surprised and confused. As if they couldn't concieve that there are people who don't like their chosen one, and they even dared come on their turf. After spending some time there, the state troopers starting gathering around, and told us the Obama rally is a "no-free-speech" zone (they used different words, actually), so we started walking slowly through the stunned crowds. There were different groups of protesters moving around, with anti-Corzine, anti-socialism signs, or with the yellow "Don't Tread On Me" flags, when we were together I'd say we were almost 100 people.

Next stop was by the VIP entrance, but after a while the state troopers came again and told us we're blocking the walkway. Even better, apparently they had set up a "designated protest area", which was way back in the woods, a mile from the ArtsCenter. They wer enever physically violent, but they were verbally agressive, up until the Asbury Park Press came and started taking pictures of them, so they offered a compromise: we can stay there, but we can't block the walkway. Actually, we spent the next half hour talking to various reporters from all the local news outlets and posing for their cameras.

After the 5 (five) "Marine One" helicopters flew over, we moved back to the main road, waiting for the Big O, but he never came, so once we heard commotion inside the arena we figured he sneaked through. On my way back through the back roads, I actually figured out the secret access way, we went around on Holland and Telegraph Hill road, and used the back entrance behind the big satelite dishes.

It was a very peaceful protest, nothing spectacular, and it's great we showed his irrational fans that there still are people in this country who don't like him and who believe in "free speech".

UPDATE 2: Obama/Corzine Protest, July 16

Well, since the Holmdel HS idea is off, we go to than G (or is it H?)

Meet at Holmdel Park at 1pm, and then march the 1.5mi to the PNC ArtsCenter. They won't close Holmdel Park, unless they move to closing the entire Monmouth County.

UPDATE: Obama/Corzine Protest on July 16

So tomorrow Obama and Corzine are coming here and we have to give them a warm Monmouth County welcome! The previous protest plans have been foiled by road restrictions and fences, so here is the current plan (should be already Plan D or E):

We will meet in the parking lot of the Holmdel HS.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=40.388005,-74.176254&spn=0.015723,0.038581&t=h&z=15

It's at the bottom where the football/baseball fields are. We get on that E W Road, past that parking lot where the Obamaniacs will park anyway, and go to the main area... keeping quiet until we get there. It's about 0.7mi.

Obama will arrive at 3:15pm, they advise people to come at 1:00pm so let's meet around 1pm and prepare to march to the ArtsCenter. Directions to the HS are:
- Exit 114N, left on Red Hill Rd / 114S, right on Red Hill Rd
- Right on Crawford Corner Rd
- 2nd light, right into the HS parking lot. We should meet as far in the back as possible (closest to the access road)

Classroom Explanation of Obama's Socialist Plans

I received this story today, it's a fable, but a great explanation of Obama's socialism plans would never work (besides the fact that over a dozen countries have tried it for 50+ years, and they all failed).

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.

--------------------------------------------

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D!
No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

Obama/Corzine Protest on July 16 (Thu) at the PNC ArtsCenter

There are several groups planning to protest at the Obama/Corzine rally at the PNC ArtsCenter this Thursday, July 16, around 2pm.

A Middletown group will be meeting around 1pm at the Vietnam Memorial inside the ArtsCenter. Corzine's website says: "Due to security concerns, we ask everyone to arrive by 1pm. We expect the event to end by approximately 5pm."

Let's hope they'll let us get to the Memorial parking lot. Easiest way is from the Parkway's southbound Exit 116, keep right until you see the sign to the Memorial. I'm sure security will try turning people away, but the Memorial is a public monument so they SHOULD let us get there.

Obama/Corzine Show Coming to Monmouth County

For fear of massive protests at Rutgers, the organizers moved the Obama/Corzine rally to the PNC ArtsCenter in Holmdel. It will happen on July 16th, around noon time. Compared to the open spaces at Rutgers, the arena is gated, and traffic from the highway is very easy to control.

But I still hope the protest organizers will come out with some idea. As Politicker stated:
The relocation places the president, governor and their minions squarely in the auspices of the very Republican 13th District for a few hours.

The Race is On: Mike Halfacre to Challenge Rush Holt

Today, Fair Haven Mayor Mike Halfacre officially launched his campaign for New Jersey's 12th district, against incumbent Rush Holt. Mr. Halfacre appeared at a press conference in Fair Haven surrounded by most local elected officials: Sen. Jen Beck, Assemblyman Declan O'Scanlon, Assemblywomen Caroline Casagrande and Mary Pat Angelini, Freeholders Lilian Burry and Rob Clifton, as well as many township committeemen from Fair Haven, Oceanport, Rumson, Middletown and more.

Mr. Halfacre spoke about Rush Holt's lack of record in issues that matter for New Jersey, not even speaking about his own district (where he can't even point all cities on a map). As the mayor said, "Rush Holt voted for the AIG bonuses before he voted against them". Holt voted for all the bailout bills, but never found time to fight for the Fort Monmouth or for the cleaning of Branchport Creek. While Holt was easily spending taxpayer money, Mayor Halfacre kept reducing taxes, being one of the few New Jersey municipalities that were able to do this in recent years.

Mike Halfacre might face a primary challenge from '08 candidate Alan Bateman, who lost by 30%. Halfacre already raised more money than Bateman raised in his entire campaign (he raised $36k opposed to over a million by Holt). It's hard to campaign when you're largely outspent, but Halfacre's campaign manager previously helped Sen. Beck to win while outspent 5-to-1.

Mike Halfacre to Announce Congressional Run

Fair Haven Mayor Michael Halfacre will announce on Tuesday, July 7th, his decision to challenge Rush Holt for his seat in the House of Representatives in NJ's District 12.

“In his 10 years in Congress, Rush Holt has been ineffective on matters big and small throughout the 12th Congressional District and has compiled a voting record which is not representative of the district he represents”, said Halfacre. “At a time when Americans of all political stripes are growing increasingly concerned about record federal spending and ever expanding government involvement in the private sector, I believe my record as a tax cutting fiscal conservative will be an attractive alternative.”

Mayor Halfacre will hold a press conference at 11:00am on July 7th at Fair Haven's Borough Hall (480 Prospect Ave). He will be introduced by Senator Jennifer Beck, with other members of the Monmouth legislative delegation and various local elected officials in attendance. A second press conference will take place at 2:00pm at the Trenton Statehouse, where Mayor Halfacre will appear with NJGOP Chairman, Assemblyman Jay Webber.

Middletown Tea Party

On the 4th of July I went to a small Middletown Tea Party right in my hometown. There was no advertising, no announcements about this event, I don't even remember how I heard about it. It was all about opposing Obama's socialist schemes, cap & trade, higher taxes, irresponsible spending and so on. First thing that surprised me was that I couldn't see any of my Republican friends there. Not even the Lonegan supporters. The party was nowhere to be found. Well, that should be expected considering that the tea partiers criticised representatives Lance, LoBiondo and Smith who voted for Obama's disastruos tax&trade bill. I can't even believe how many "Republicans" (some with very strong credentials) tried to convince me that the gang of 3 did a good thing, and we need that bill.

Not only was the Republican Party totally absent, but any party official that could be associated with the Tea Party strongly tried to avoid any such association. And despite all this, several hundred people showed up, they were very vocal, and created a lot of noise on Route 35. It was nice to see how must of the passing cars were shouting encouragements and honking loudly. So there is still hope that the people of New Jersey know what they want, despite the weird direction from the party organizations.

Actually, here's what a well-known local Republican figure and former township committee person told me: "First, a monumental failure to stand against cap and trade, then a defense of that failure. The party fails to stand together, then stands together to defend the failure. The party needs to be torn apart. NO MONEY to the state party from those of us who get it. I won't give to the county party either, nor will I support them. We need to start supporting the candidates who deserve it and tear down the party "leadership" on nearly every level. We need to start fighting this battle on the inside."

Finally, here are a few pictures from the Middletown event:
